Part of M2 closed overnight
18:49, 04 November 2005
A SECTION of the M2 will be closed overnight so that urgent repairs can be carried out by the Highways Agency.
The London-bound carriageway between the Stockbury and Gillingham junctions (5 and 4) will shut from 8.30pm tonight until 6am tomorrow morning.
This is to allow emergency repairs to be carried out on the hard shoulder.
The London-bound section has to be closed fully because of other ongoing works in lanes two and three, which if disrupted would compromise safety for road users.
London-bound traffic will be diverted onto the A249 to junction 7 of the M20. Those motorists wishing to rejoin the M2 at Bluebell Hill, junction 3, will be diverted to the A229 at junction 6 of the M20.
