Road works to close Kingsferry Bridge
00:00, 07 November 2002
KINGSFERRY Bridge, Sheppey's only road link with mainland Kent, will be closed for resurfacing on Monday and Tuesday night this week (November 4 & 5).
The work will take place on the A249 between the Kingsferry roundabout on the mainland and Cowstead Corner roundabout on Sheppey.
This section of road will be closed to all traffic from midnight on Monday until 5am the next day and then midnight on Tuesday until 5am on Wednesday.
Traffic will be restricted to one lane from 10pm before closure begins and again until 5.30am once the bridge is re-opened.
Highways Agency project manager Steve Cobb said: "Resurfacing the bridge will provide a smoother ride and safer journey for the travelling public. A full closure is required to ensure the safety of both the workforce and the road users."
