More than 5,000 party-people will descend on a Kent airport tomorrow night for a 12-hour non-stop rave.

The buzz is building for Connected Festival which is being held at Lydd Airport on Romney Marsh, which held world dance parties in the 1990s.

With only one day to go, organisers now say all infrastructure is in place, the lighting has been fitted and the sound system is being installed today.

A bar, food stalls and a medical centre have also been set up at the site, with flooring also added to the runway.

Four of the dance stages - Connected Main, Breakin Science, Garage Nation, and Underground House - will be held in big top tents, now fully erected at the site.

The fifth stage, #RCFF, will be in the airport's new hanger.

In the last 24 hours set times for the acts - more than 100 - have been posted to social media.

And with take off in sight, attendees - coming from all over the country - are getting excited.

One posted on Facebook: "So excited for this! Cant wait to see all my ravers out in full force.

"Let's all take a moment to appreciate the hard work and effort being put in to this massive event that is set to go down in history."

Others said: "Excited is an understatement" and "Can't wait for this".

Connected Festival, a debut event, was first announced in July this year and has been organised by Rohan Mulvaney, Martin Hackney, and James Tovey.

Revellers will be able to dance from dusk to dawn to drum and base, garage and house music, with the rave kicking off at 6pm tomorrow and ending at 6am Sunday.

The line up includes So Solid Crew, Andy C, Wilkinson, Problem Central, and Heartless Crew, and many more.

In the past two weeks, a team of around 50 people have been busy transforming the airport into a venue fit to host a 12-hour rave.

Mr Mulvaney said: "It is starting to become very real.

"The infrastructure is now in place, and we will be doing our final walk through this afternoon. The lighting is already up and the sound is being set up today.

"I'm dead chuffed about the weather; it looks like it's going to be dry.

"Ticket sales have picked up this week, and we're expecting them to rise until this evening.

"We're well in excess of 5,000 people."

Mr Mulvaney added that the team are also building a documentary about the festival and everything that has gone into making it a reality.

He said: "We've filmed every day; the highs, the lows. It's been an absolute rollercoaster.

"But I can't wait to see it all pulled together."

As well as music, performers, such as fire eaters, break dancers, stilt walkers and 'mirror man', who will fire up lasers, will be there on the night to entertain guests.

Food such as burgers, hot dogs and wraps will be available from Gourmet Griddle, and a big cinema screen, playing footage from festivals past, toilets and a bar will also be set up.

There will be no camping, but shuttle buses are available, as is parking.

Last entry is 1am and payments by card and cash will be accepted on the night.

The airport will not be operation during the festival, but the coastguard will remain operational for emergency purposes.
