And this new attack was discovered today, the birthday of the reviled Nazi leader.

Louts defaced a poster showing Mr Collins, Conservative general election candidate for Folkestone and Hythe, in New Romney.

It happened eight days after a Hitler-type moustache was drawn on a poster of Ukip leader Nigel Farage at Black Bull Road, Folkestone, along with a quote from cartoon character Moe, the bar owner in The Simpsons.

That same day, April 12, a window was smashed at the party’s election base at the town’s West Terrace.

That same weekend several moustaches of this kind were daubed in Sittingbourne and Sheppey on the poster images of Conservative candidate Gordon Henderson.

Adolf Hitler, Germany's dictator and mass murderer during the Second World War, was born 126 years ago today.
