The outage is affecting homes in Lydd, New Romney, Dymchurch, and St Mary's in the Marsh, with select outages in other areas.

The fault is understood to have been caused by an overhead cable coming down in this morning's storms.

The latest update from UK Power Networks says that engineers are on site, have identified the fault and are working on fixing it.

However, the fault is not predicted to be fixed until between 1pm and 2pm.

It comes as many residents across Kent were woken up by thunderstorms this morning following the heat yesterday.

Temperatures are still expected to reach the high 20s and even 30C again today, but alongside more thunderstorms as the day progresses.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the whole of the UK from midday.

The warning is in place until 9am tomorrow.

More on this as we get it.
