A hunt has been launched for two burglars who targeted three businesses in a night including a Royal British Legion branch.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the raids in Dymchurch earlier this week.

A till and charity boxes were taken from the City of London pub and a camera and an iPod were also taken.

It is estimated around £250 to £300 were stolen from the charity boxes but the till was empty when the thieves struck.

They were being collected for Macmillan Cancer Support, the Kent Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance and the RNLI.

The Royal British Legion branch on the Sea Wall and two cafes were also targeted but the burglars did not gain access.

Two men were seen acting suspiciously in the area on Monday night into Tuesday (June 27-28).

Officers were called to the High Street after two properties were targeted and had "sustained damage from attempted break-ins".

They found a suspect in a third property and chased him.

He managed to escape police but the stolen till was recovered along with two charity boxes which were empty when officers found them.

CCTV images have been posted online of one of the suspects at 12.20am on Tuesday.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police is appealing for anyone with information following three reported burglaries in Dymchurch overnight between 27 and 28 June to come forward.

"Officers attended High Street following reports of two men acting suspiciously.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Kent Police quoting ZY/021515/16."
