A man dubbed the Lion of London Bridge after confronting a terrorist has avoided a jail sentence after admitting having amphetamines in his home.

Roy Larner was one of 48 people injured in the terror attacks around Borough Market in June 2017, in which eight people died.

He was stabbed several times as he bravely confronted the killers and was hailed worldwide for his heroics, with a petition set up online to award him the George Cross.

A little over a year later, the 48-year-old was arrested after police raided his caravan home at The Parade in Greatstone on Romney Marsh in September last year and seized 240 grams of the Class B drug.

He pleaded guilty to illegally possessing the drug at Canterbury Crown Court in October but denied a more serious charge of intending to sell it to others.

Larner has now been given a 12-month community order.
