A man in his 60s has died after a crash involving a car and motorcycle in New Romney yesterday afternoon.
A white Volkswagen Tiguan and grey Yamaha motorbike were travelling on the B2075 Romney Road towards New Romney around 4.14pm.
The collision happened around one mile from the junction with the A259 at Hammonds Corner.
The air ambulance landed in a field nearby but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed in both directions while police and paramedics dealt with the incident. It was reopened more than three hours later.
Police are now appealing for witnesses and particularly want to speak to people in a pick-up truck believed to be a grey Ford Ranger that was travelling from Lydd towards Hammonds Corner at the time of the crash.
A spokesman from the force said they were not involved in the accident, but may have important information on what happened.
Anyone with information is asked to call Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798538 quoting MR/DK/081/17.
