Football will even feature during the Marsh’s biggest carnival as World Cup mania continues.
But Lydd Club Day will have it with a twist, a game of body zorb, which is five-a-side with players clad in bubble wrap.
The fun starts at the Rype Playing Field, Skinner Road, as early as 7am on Saturday, with a boot fair and culminates in a fireworks display at 10pm.
Club Day spokesman Clive Goddard said: “The committee works hard all year to put on this great community event. It will be a great day and hopefully the weather is kind.”
A children’s fancy dress competition begins at 1.45pm and Lydd Club Day begins in full at 2pm with the firing of a maroon.
Performers include the Hawkinge Flyers Twirling and Pom Pom Team, the Black Knight’s Drum and Bugle Corps and there will also be a tug of war.
The carnival procession assembles at 5pm and judging takes place following the entry of the Queen’s Court at 5.45pm.
The crowning of this year’s Club Day Queen, Tamara Sweeney takes place at 6pm and this is followed by a procession through the town.
Live music will be on the trailer from 8pm.
Other attractions during the day include a funfair, boot fair and ample stalls.
Lydd Club Day begin in 1868 and has taken place every third Saturday in June except during both world wars.
