A woman had to be cut free from her car after a road smash.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: “Crews stabilised the vehicle and used hydraulic rescue equipment to remove the roof and release a woman trapped in one of the vehicles.

“She was then passed into the care of the ambulance service.”

A Kent Police spokesman said: “The woman, who was driving the car, was taken to hospital.
“The van driver did not appear to have been injured.”

The crash was at the junction of the Brenzett Green turning.

One ambulance attended but and a passing off-duty paramedic also helped.

A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance Service said: “We asked the fire and rescue service to cut the woman from her vehicle as there was a concern for potential spinal injuries.

“The victim, who was in her 20s, was not suffering any obvious injuries but she was put on a longboard and taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford for further treatment.”

Kent County Council Highways said that the road had to be closed in both directions.

Firefighters finished their work at the scene just before 9.20am and the road was re-opened at 10am.
