A LORRY hit a nuclear train on Romney Marsh today. The empty flask was heading from Sellafield to Dungeness A Power Station.
The collision happened on a level crossing on the A259 between Brookland and Brenzett just after 8.30am. Police, firefighters and experts from Dungeness were quickly on the scene and an investigation has been launched.
No one was injured in the incident. Power station spokesman Robin Thornton said: "From all accounts it appears to be a low speed impact. A procedure is in place for this type of incident.
"But during a recent test, a train was crashed into a flask at 100mph. The locomotive was completely destroyed but the flask was not damaged."
