Police dog Yankee tracks down driver after he flees crash in Oakham Drive, Lydd

A police dog hunted down a driver after he fled the scene of a two car smash on Romney Marsh .
Police were called to Oakham Drive, Lydd at 10.15pm last night following reports a car had crashed into another vehicle and entered a field.
But when officers arrived they discovered the driver had left the scene.
Luckily, police dog Yankee picked up a track and soon found the driver as he attempted to hide.
A 49-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and possession of a class A substance.
He has since been released on bail.
Police added that no one was injured during the crash, including children who were passengers in the second car.
The Kent Police Tactical Operations team tweeted about the incident with the hashtag #CantHideFromYankee.
The tweet said: "Driver of a vehicle crashes into another car carrying young children then runs from THE scene in #Lydd.
"PD Yankee attends picking up a track away and soon finds the driver trying to hide.
"He's promptly arrested for #drinkdrive and other offences. #CantHideFromYankee"
