Kent Police says they are 'aware' of a planned beach event that could attract hundreds of people.

There are fears that a 'cookout' planned for Rye in East Sussex could relocate to Romney Marsh.

Coachloads of people are due to attend the event in Camber, run by Croydon-based takeaway Flavour Boss Jerk Centre.

The same company organised a similar party last year, advertised as a private family event, before descending into chaos after relocating to Greatstone at the last minute.

The shocking scenes saw four police officers injured, including one who was run over by a car.

The organisers later donated £750 to a litter-picking effort; however, an identical event is planned for this weekend.

Social media posts advertise it as a cookout at a secret beach location, midday till late.

Kent Police Inspector Andy Brittenden from the Folkestone and Hythe Community Safety Unit said: "Kent Police is aware of a music event being publicised to take place in the Sussex area on Sunday, August 1.

"Officers are aware the organisers advertised a similar event last year and at the last minute relocated to Greatstone.

Work to liaise with Sussex Police as well as respective local district councils is underway and if any attempts to establish an unlicensed event in Kent are discovered then where necessary action will be taken against any associated anti-social behaviour and organisers could potentially find themselves at risk of having equipment such as speakers and lights seized.

"Visitors are welcome to enjoy our beaches in Kent but we remind everyone that nuisance behaviour and criminal activity in our coastal towns will not be tolerated and action will be taken against those responsible.

"Members of the public are still encouraged to contact us if they believe an unlicensed music event is being organised near them by calling 101 or visiting www.kent.police.uk/report".
