A busy restaurant has closed for a deep clean after one of its customers tested positive for Covid-19 .
The Ship Hotel in New Romney announced the news in a statement.
The customer, a local young man, visited the restaurant on Wednesday with his family.
The hotel and restaurant is still expected to open at 12pm today following an extensive deep clean.
In the statement issued yesterday, a spokesman said: "Following a recent report that a customer has been tested positive for Covid-19 and after seeking professional advise, we have taken the decision to do a thorough deep clean asap and therefore will not be open until 12pm on Friday.
"We have been rigorously following the government guidelines to keep you all safe whilst we are open, our tables are socially distanced correctly, all staff have had extensive training and have passed Covid-19 courses, we have a one way system and our cleaning routines are to the highest standards.
"This is a single isolated case, not an outbreak.
"You are only at risk if you were within 2 meters of this person for 15 minutes. Their table was 2 meters from any other table.
"If you are at all concerned, please contact theshiphotelandrestaurant@gmail.com and we will respond asap.
"The NHS Track and Trace have not contacted us as yet, but they will contact those that need to be notified, if they feel the need to do so."
