A charity shop window display in New Romney has got hearts racing just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Two mannequins, wearing revealing garments in red and black, are on display at the British Red Cross store in the High Street.

One wears a silky corset and the other has a short night dress, which leaves little to the imagination.

But the donated items are not for sale, it has been confirmed.

The charity shop is only allowed to sell underwear that has not been worn.

The perimeter of the window has also been decorated with love heart fairy lights and bunting.

The racy outfits have led to praise from shoppers, who have taken to social media to appreciate the work of the volunteers.

Heather Crittenden, the shop manager, said: “I’m so pleased people have loved what we are doing with the shop.

“We have used the British Red Cross’s values within our window display to get the Romney Marsh to notice us. These are to be courageous, companionate, inclusive and dynamic. The intention was to get the shop noticed and people talking and it has certainly done that.”

While some people said the display window put a smile on their face, others speculated about who had donated them to the shop in the first place.

The New Romney branch Facebook page said: “We have had some lovely comments and people talking about us.”
