A259 on Romney Marsh closed after crash involving cyclist and lorry

A major road remained closed this evening following a serious crash involving a cyclist and a lorry.
As of 9pm, the A259 was still shut in both directions near Brenzett while emergency services investigate the collision, which saw a man taken to hospital.
Police officers remain at the scene between Brenzett and Straight Lane.
The air ambulance was also called to the crash, which occurred just after 3pm.
A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called following a report of a collision between a lorry and cyclist on the A259 near Brenzett shortly before 3pm.
"Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and a man was taken to hospital for treatment.
"The road is closed while the incident is responded to and drivers are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes."
