A sexual predator who repeatedly attacked his young victim over a 24-hour period has been jailed.

Narrell Palmer, 20, travelled from his London home to New Romney in July 2013 to carry out the assaults on the girl, who was just 15 years old.

Having met her previously, he followed her home and sexually assaulted her several times over 24 hours before he was discovered hiding under her bed.

Police were called and during interview, Palmer refused to comment on his actions.

But he later pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual activity with a child at Canterbury Crown Court, where he was jailed for a total of 18 months yesterday.

Two of those charges relate to offences which had taken place earlier in the year in London, after the victim broke her silence to Kent Police detectives.

Palmer was handed 18 months in prison for each of the four charges, to run concurrently, as well as a five-year restraining order.

His name will also be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.

After the sentencing, Detective Heather Moore said: "Palmer was relentless in his pursuit of a young, vulnerable victim and she was forced to suffer through a horrific ordeal while he took advantage of her.

"I commend her courage in speaking up and I urge anyone who is going through something similar not to suffer in silence.

"Distance may not have been a barrier to stopping Palmer's behaviour but a prison sentence will be and I'm glad he has been locked away."
