New Romney: Man from Ashford arrested after reported burglary in Cockreed Lane

A man has been arrested after 'suspicious noises' being heard triggered a police response to a reported burglary in progress.
Officers were called to the scene on Cockreed Lane in New Romney, Romney Marsh just before 8.45pm last night at a commercial premises.
It was reported that damage had been caused to storage units on the site but nothing was taken.
A 40-year-old man from Ashford was arrested on suspicion of burglary at the scene.
He has since been released pending further investigation.
A number of items found with the man were also seized, including an angle grinder and cutting discs, a bag of a substance believed to be amphetamine, and a quantity of cannabis.
