A man dubbed the 'Lion of London Bridge' after confronting a terrorist has been put on an anti-terror watchlist.

Roy Larner, from Greatstone in Romney Marsh, was one of 48 people injured in the terror attacks in the capital in June 2017.

The Millwall fan was stabbed several times as he bravely confronted the killers and was hailed worldwide for his heroics, with a petition set up online to award him the George Cross.

But Mr Larner, 49, has since been placed on the Government's Prevent programme and an anti-terror watchlist amid fears he could become an extremist after he was contacted by anti-Islam supporters, according to a report in The Sun.

He has had to attend de-radicalisation classes and is under police surveillance.

Roy told the paper: "They treat me like a terrorist but I'm not political at all."

Anti-terror cops first got in touch with him amid footage of him yelling abuse at a black man while walking his dogs.

He got a suspended jail term and later served five weeks for breaching conditions.

He was also found guilty of illegally possessing amphetamines earlier this year.
