A thug who stamped on his ex-partner's head several times after beating her unconscious has been locked up.
Owen Jenner, of Hornash Lane in Shadoxhurst, near Ashford, was jailed having pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm.
Police described the assault as "an extremely violent and unprovoked attack".
The court was told Jenner punched his ex-girlfriend in the face during a dispute at a holiday park in New Romney.
She was knocked unconscious and fell to the ground.
After punching her, Jenner then repeatedly kicked and stamped on her head while she lay on the ground during the vile attack at a holiday park in Dymchurch Road in September.
The victim suffered several injuries and needed surgery to her jaw which was broken in three places.
Detectives paid tribute to witnesses who saw the attack and stepped in to help preventing even more serious injuries.
Jenner, 37, was jailed for six years and eight months on Thursday, December 15 at Canterbury Crown Court.
Det Con Stuart Dodd, the investigating officer, said: "This was an extremely violent and unprovoked attack in a public place. The victim suffered severe injuries and is still suffering with side effects.
"Several people who witnessed the attack have also been affected by what they saw and we believe her injuries could have been a lot worse if a member of the public had not stepped in to help.
"Kent Police will not tolerate such terrible acts of violence and we hope this sentence reassures the public that reports like this will be dealt with robustly."
