The results of last summer’s filming of Top Gear at Lydd will be shown on TV this weekend.

The edition, in which the presenters try to design their own ambulances, will be transmitted on BBC2 tomorrow at 8pm.

In this, the third episode of the 22nd series, James May, Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond, create their own versions from diesel vans.

Hammond focuses on getting other drivers quickly out of the way, May looks at passenger comfort and Clarkson aims to create a sports-style ambulance.

Each then race to get to a mock-up emergency first.

The team had been in Lydd last July 29 and 30 filming on the Ranges and nearby Lydd Car Breakers.

The firm’s salvage yard in Dengemarsh Road had supplied cars for them to use with many being completely wrecked and burned out.

The sons of company boss Paul Moore CORR, Elliott corrand Luke, 12, had their pictures taken with the TV stars.

Mr Moore at the time commented that he was surprised at how much work was put in for small amounts of filming. He said his sons had taken to the trio, describing them as “funny blokes.”

But Clarkson had sparked a row during this visit after saying to residents of an Ashford road: “With all those stupid speed humps, I hope you never need an ambulance”.

He was referring to Ulley Road in the Kennington, which has several ‘sleeping policemen’ along it.

Sixteen sets of speed bumps run along the length of Ulley Road and The Street.

The Top Gear team have come to east Kent many times to film, regularly at Lydden Circuit near Dover and also Chilham Castle in November 2011.

Lydd Ranges was also used for the 2012 TV drama Ginger and Rosa along with Lade Beach and Romney Sands.
