Lydd Town are hoping to extend Johan ter Horst’s dual-registration arrangement.

Ter Horst scored twice for the second game running as the Lydders beat FC Elmstead 5-2 in the FA Vase on Saturday.

The striker’s main club, Ashford, let him out for a month to get game time after he missed all of pre-season.

He has a week remaining at the Lindsey Field and Lydd would like to have him for longer.

Joint-manager James Rogers is set to contact Ashford boss Kevin Watson to see how the land lies.

“It’s a conversation I need to have with Kev, to see if there’s anything we can do to keep him on board for another month,” said Rogers. “He’s Ashford’s player and whatever they decide we’ll have to go with.

“We’ll see what happens on that front.

“He’s come in and scored goals and he’s enjoyed it.

“I’ll probably have a conversation with Kev this week to see whether he wants him back or we can keep him for another month to get more games.

“I don’t know if he’s in their plans long-term - I guess he is - so we’ll have to wait and see.”

An own goal set Lydd on their way against FC Elmstead, with Charlie Dickens and Sam Adams on target before Ter Horst’s late double.

It was another big victory following a 7-3 success against Meridian VP in the Kent Senior Trophy last weekend but Rogers wants to tighten up defensively.

He said: “We’re banging the goals in, albeit against teams from the league below, but I’m peed off with the goals we’re conceding.

“That’s five in the two cup games, which is a bit annoying.

“We look dangerous going forward - we could have had 10 on Saturday - but I’d prefer to be a bit tighter.

“You can’t keep conceding goals every week and expect to win games, especially when you come up against the better teams.

“Saying that, when you’re playing teams from the league below, sometimes you switch off and lose concentration if the game becomes too easy.

“We need to stay switched on for 90 minutes.”

Lydd are without a game this weekend.
