Kent Air Ambulance has landed in Sandwich this afternoon to help a woman in need of medical assistance.
SECAmb and Kent Police were also called to the scene at Guildcount Lane at 12.37pm.
A spokesman for SECAmb confirmed a woman collapsed in the road and subsequently hit her head and was in need of medical assistance.
The air ambulance assisted the land ambulance on route, and took the patient by road to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford in a serious condition.
A spokesman for Kent Police said: "We were called by SECAmb to reports of concern for the welfare of a woman in her 40s. We're there to see if there are any issues that we need to be aware of."
There are at least five officers on the scene and two PCSOs as well as a land ambulance.
The condition of the woman is not yet known.
The surrounding roads were congested but should be clear now and police have closed off Guildcount Lane.
