Sandwich Food Fayre is set to make its return to the town next month, with more stalls this year than ever.

The popular event on Saturday, May 7 and Sunday, May 8 is set to draw in the crowds as it has done in recent years.

Organiser Veronica Lioté said: “We have booked space in St Peter’s Gardens as well as the Guildhall Forecourt and Market Street and will also be using King Street.

“We have had to turn some late requests away this year.”

Stalls from as far away as London are returning each year including Camden Market’s Emilia’s, which will be offering fine foods again, with a second stall, this year, selling fried squid and veganic prosecco.

Regular stall holders will be joined by Paella Espana, Bexley Brewery, The Devil’s Pantry and the Cherry Berry Juice Co, among others.

International cuisine includes Indian, Thai, Russian and Hungarian, and local suppliers are again very well represented with a good number being Produced in Kent members.

Mrs Lioté said: “We know the food fayre is a good option for local suppliers and we were delighted when Deal based Paramour Pies told us of their success story.

“Peter and Cherry Truluck Haplin had recently set up their pie making business when they took part last year.

“They were noticed by the person who organises the Broadstairs food fair who asked them if they would come to that market as well.

“Their business has gone from strength to strength and they have now opened a Pop Up Pie Hub in Deal.

“They consider that the fayre was the kick start to a success story.”

The team has also booked a number of local musicians.
