Drivers were delayed after a motorbike "erupted into a ball of fire".
It happened after a collision between two motorcyclists in Ramsgate Road, Sandwich at 10.30am.
Motorist James Downs described how the biker "slid for almost 50 yards" after the crash.
The 40-year-old, from Deal, said: "There was a ball of fire.
"We got there and saw the initial explosion, and traffic was left at a standstill."
Police and fire crews were called to the scene.
No one was injured, and the road is now open.
A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue added: "One fire engine from Ramsgate attended the incident, and the crew extinguished the fire with a high-pressure hose reel jet.
"The motorcycle was destroyed by the fire."
