Two men had to be rescued from a river after being caught by rising tide.
One was stuck in the mud.
It happened at River Stour near Sandwich and Pegwell Bay nature Reserve early this morning.
A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Two men in their 20s had ended up in the water after camping on the river bank and not accounting for the rising tide of up to three metres.
"Crews used thermal image cameras and lighting to locate the casualties, one of whom was stuck in mud with water up to his knees."
Fire crews were called to the incident just before 12.40am today.
The victims were led to safety and were assessed by paramedics.
Firefighters were at the scene until just after 1.20pm.
The KFRS spokesman added: "Open water can be extremely dangerous. We have provided information on how to stay safe."
Details can be found in the water safety section of the KFRS website.
