Gogglebox stars open Salutation home to public to help Martha Trust charity raise funds

A staggering sum of £6,000 was raised at the Salutation in Sandwich last week in a special Martha Trust Prom event.

The engagement was designed to generate cash for the work undertaken to care for people with profound disabilities.

It was hosted by Channel 4's Gogglebox couple, Dom and Steph Parker and was hailed a success - despite torrential rain on the day.

The line up consisted of local musicians including Wayne Bridle, Steve Aiston and the Midnight Crawlers.

The charity auction was run with "great skill and humour" by the Gogglebox couple who have risen to fame in the past year.

One raffle prize included an over-night stay at the Salutation, while the others were a Magical Mystery Tour of London in a black cab donated by by Paul Benzekan and a portrait by talented local artist Joseph Sevier.

Dom Parker said: "We are delighted to be able to support Martha Trust for a fourth year.

"We have been amazed by the determination of everyone who attended to ignore the conditions and really get behind this fabulous fundraising event for a very deserving local cause."

The Martha Trust acknowledged the sponsorship from Discovery Park and A Pearson Growers.

The Barclays Matched Fundraising programme also donated a fee.
