00:01, 30 May 2015

A fun day at the Age Concern centre in Sandwich last Thursday saw plenty of stalls, a raffle and a tombola.

It was held to mark Dementia Awareness Week. There was bric-a-brac, knitting, books, cakes and advice and information from Carer Support, Volcare and Crossroads Care at the centre in Cattle Market.

There was also curative therapy sessions, nail painting and face painting and singing from Jo King.

Jane Goring, operations manager, said: “It was a really good day and a good turn-out. We had people coming up and looking round the dementia centre. The idea was to make people aware of the services we offer.

“Our student from Canterbury Christ Church, Tracey Biggs, said it was a roaring good day.”

To celebrate this, apprentices Ryan Crowther, Georgie Harrison and minibus driver Tony Hyland had their faces painted like tigers.

The amount raised has not yet been counted.
