Giant pumpkins up for grabs in guess the weight competitions in Sandwich

A giant pumpkin sitting in the window of a grocery shop in Sandwich will be won by the person who correctly guesses its weight.

The Fruit Bowl in Market Street is inviting people to enter the competition to raise money for Age Concern.

Entry is £1 and the winner will be announced on Friday, October 28.

Tracey Ward, chief officer of finance at Age Concern in Sandwich, said: “We are very grateful to The Fruit Bowl for its continual support for our centre.

"This latest fundraising scheme was entirely the idea of The Fruit Bowl and is a great and novel way of raising funds for us."

The Delf Farm Shop in Sandwich is also holding a guess the weight of the pumpkin competition in aid of the Pilgrims Hospice.

The person with the nearest estimate will win the fruit as well as a £25 Sainsbury’s voucher.

Second prize is a £15 hamper from the farm shop.
