00:01, 11 December 2015

A public meeting to discuss the future of Wayfarers will be held in Sandwich on Tuesday, December 15.

This comes after Sandwich Town Council complained that there were no elected representatives at the first public meeting.

Graham Gibbens, Kent County Council cabinet member for adult social care and public health will be in attendance.

Christy Holden, head of strategic commissioning, will also return to the Guildhall for the second meeting.

Everyone is welcome to attend.

The previous meeting saw residents opposing the proposals and the town council has since pledged to stand up for the care home in a bid to save it from being privatised.

It will be held in the Jury Room, Guildhall, Sandwich on December 15, at 7pm.

The consultation ends on December 20, and a decision is expected to be made in January.
