Deadline of June 15 for Sandwich Arts Week Poetry-Trio contest

Budding poets have just over a week to submit their entries for Sandwich Arts Week Poetry-Trio competition.

The deadline is Friday, June 15.

He said: “The response so far has been very encouraging but I know there are more aspiring poets out there and if they want their poems to be considered, they have only a short time to get them in.”

There are three separate competition, one is for under18s with a £25 prize from Sandwich Library Guild.

There is also the Local Poet Competition and the Sandwich Poet 2018 Award with prizes amounting to more than £200.

Winners' awards will be presented on September 21 at the town's Kings Arms Hotel where all the week's poetry events take place.

The prizegiving will also include readings from short-listed entrants.

Others involved in the competition are Margaret Simpson, chairman of the Library Guild, artist Robert Marsh and and Carolyn McDonald-Bell of the Sandwich Arts Week committee.

The contest is open to all local residents aged from 12. Entries are £4.00 for one poem and £10 for three.
