Armed police called after man shot in face at Sandwich Marina

A man was taken to hospital after he was shot in the face on a riverbank.
Armed police were called to the scene near Sandwich Marina following what is thought to have been a random shooting.
Witnesses told of hearing a loud bang before a man in his 50s suffered a facial injury consistent with a pellet fired from an air weapon.
Officers attended the scene and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the incident, which happened at about 2pm yesterday.
No arrests have been made.
The injured man was taken to a local hospital.
