Police were called to investigate a suspicious object on a beach.
The unknown object at Sandwich Bay is understood to have been uncovered by a dog walker.
But by the time officers arrived, it had been covered by the incoming tide.
A spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 1pm on Tuesday, March 31 2020 to a report that a suspicious object had been found on a beach in Sandwich Bay.
"The incoming tide had covered up the object before officers arrived at the scene and at this stage the object has not been located again."
