Gazen Salts Nature Reserve gets £10k from district council to help it reopen

A total of £10,000 has been pledged to the Gazen Salts Nature Reserve to enable it to reopen.
The one off payment has been provided by Dover District Council.
It has been closed due to a tidal surge in December 2013 that flooded the area.
Cllr Nicholas Kenton, DDC cabinet member for environment said: “We are very pleased to provide extra support to help restore Gazen Salts Nature Reserve. This is a beautiful location, and a great community asset for the area.”
Karen Potter, Gazen Salts Nature Reserve warden said: “This is fantastic news.
“We are delighted at the help we continue to get from our partners.
“DDC has provided an excellent level of support to our work, and we thank them wholeheartedly.”
It has about 1.5 miles of footpaths, winding through many habitats, including lakes, reed beds and a meadow.
The sum was agreed on Wednesday as part of its budget for 2015/16.
