Firefighters extinguished a skip fire allegedly caused by an "explosion" at Sandwich Industrial Estate.
Two crews were called at 11pm on Friday to deal with a skip alight in a compound area in an industrial unit on the estate, just off Ramsgate Road.
Firefighters used two breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to put out the fire.
They then remained at the scene to damp down and check for any remaining hotspots.
They left at 12am once the area had been made safe.
A witness to the blaze, Dean Carlton said he experienced what felt like an explosion.
He said: "I was a fair distance from it and felt an explosion of some description.
"I'm not sure what it was but the shock moved the cabin I was in, watching TV with a friend, so we went outside and noticed the smoke."
That was when Mr Carlton called 999 as the skip burst into flames.
The cause of the fire is still unknown but Kent Police confirmed it is not being treated as suspicious.
