Soprano Georgina Skinner to perform love songs at Sandwich Guildhall for Valentine's Day
00:05, 13 February 2016
A former Sir Roger Manwood’s pupil will return to Sandwich to perform an evening of romantic love songs from the shows, tonight (Saturday).
Soprano Georgina Skinner, 22, will present a medley of much loved melodies, accompanied by pianist Chris Nash, on the eve of Valentine’s Day at 7.30pm at Sandwich Guildhall.
Miss Skinner, who has just completed her master of philosophy in arts education research at Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge, said: “I’m really looking forward to performing back in my home town. I always love having an excuse to come back to Sandwich!”
The night, which also includes an American supper, will raise cash for the Mayor’s Fund.
The Mayor of Sandwich, Cllr Paul Graeme, said: “I am delighted that Georgina and her accompanist Chris are performing at Sandwich Guildhall to raise money for the Mayor’s Fund.
“They are both immensely talented and I know the audience will be in for a real treat.
“The Mayor’s Fund makes grants every year to good causes in Sandwich, so everyone coming to the concert will not only be having a good time but will be helping others.
“With a charity auction – courtesy of Royal St George’s Golf Club – and raffle at the concert, we anticipate that this is going to be another fundraising success.”
Tickets cost £15 and include a glass of fizz.
They are available by email: mayor@sandwichtowncouncil.gov.uk or by calling 01304 617197.
