ORGANISERS of the Open are patting themselves on the back after figures for the event reveal a rise in attendance.
For the first three days of practice at Royal St George's, 32,000 golfing fans turned-up compared with just 25,000 at the Open in Scotland last year.
The first day of open play was also more popular than Muirfield with 2,000 more people turning up at the venue.
