06:00, 13 December 2019
Councillors and staff at Sandwich Town Council put their hands in their pockets to donate 80 advent calendars to the Sandwich branch of Deal Area Foodbank.
The chocolate countdown charts will be handed out to children from the town to help them experience the magic of Christmas.
They were delivered to the Phoenix Centre, where the foodbank is based from 1pm until 3pm every Thursday, by the Mayor of Sandwich, Councillor Jeffrey Franklin.
Chairman of The Phoenix Centre Phil Scott, said: “It was a lovely gesture."
It comes after the council pledged to continue to help and promote the cause in addition to a £3,000 grant for Sandwich Tollbridge Fund.
