Sandwich will be alive with folk music, stalls and fun this weekend for the Folk and Ale Festival.

The eagerly anticipated Oysterband will perform at St Mary’s Arts Centre tomorrow at 7pm.

This is one of their first gigs since band member John Jones was diagnosed with cancer.

The festival will continue on Saturday and Sunday in the town with the main stage and Acorn stage by the Guildhall.

Cocos Lovers from Deal and Green Diesel from Faversham are folk and rock acts not to be missed on the main stage.

The Acorn stage is where young and aspiring acts get a chance to play to the public.

Joining the list of venues this year is the famous Salutation’s Secret Gardens – it will host a number of buskers on Saturday as well as extra performances from some of the main acts.

Sit back and enjoy the sunshine with a cup of tea in the grounds of Gogglebox’s Steph and Dom’s home with some great folk music.

The streets of Sandwich will see morris dancers and other performers take their usual position, bringing culture, life and colour to the cobble-stoned High Street.

Each pub in the town provides the festival with an abundance of excellent real ales, including some from Wansum Brewery. Stalls will sell treats and treasures from handmade jewellery to home-cooked pastries and cakes, and work from local artists.

Visitors can stay in the camping area provided or in the hotels and guesthouses.
