12:00, 07 May 2014
This weekend’s Sandwich Food Fayre competition will be judged by television personality Paul Hendy.
Mr Hendy, who lives in Eastry, is the star of programmes such as Wheel of Fortune and Don’t Try This At Home, and will be judging the Sandwich Bites competition to choose the best sandwich in Sandwich.
Anyone can enter the competition by making their own sandwich and submitting it on Saturday.
A professional category will also be judged by the presenter with ten outlets lined up to participate.
The fayre, which is now in its third year, takes place this Saturday and Sunday with the final round of the Sandwich Bites competition being judged by Paul Hendy on Sunday.
Steve Laslett, chairman of Sandwich Community Events Association said: “We're expecting this year’s Sandwich Food Fayre to be bigger and better than ever.
“It’s going to be a major event and we look forward to welcoming visitors to the town.”
This year is set to be packed with more than 40 stalls in Market Street and the Guildhall Forecourt, with local produce such as meat, cheese, wine, hot food and cider.
Street performers will be providing music and there will also be cookery demonstrations.
On Saturday, the fayre will open from 9am to 5pm and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
