A possible unexploded bomb has been found at Sandwich Bay.
Di Jones of New Street, Sandwich, was walking along the beach last night at around 8pm when she saw the object.
After sending pictures of it to a policeman friend she was told to call Kent Police on 101 immediately.
The 70-year-old said: "It was above the high tide line so somebody had already moved it.
"I had no idea what it was. I took a couple of pictures, I tried to turn it over but it was quite heavy."
This morning, she took an officer to the site, where it is believed a controlled explodsion was to be carried out safely.
Mrs Jones added: "I was going to stay and watch the fun but they wouldn't let me.
"They kept asking me to move my car further back and saying how dangerous it was."
