A Sandwich company which uses animal venom to discover new drugs will be featured in a programme aired on BBC Four tonight.
Venomtech at Discovery Park gave the BBC crews some snake venom to use in an experiment on how quickly it clots blood.
This was for the programme The Wonderful World of Blood presented by Michael Mosley.
Steve Trim, founder and managing director at Venomtech said: “For the Big Bang fair at Birmingham’s MEC we did this experiment using pig blood, showing it clotting really quickly. We did this for four hours to 40,000 children.”
The company was also featured in the programme Pain, Pus and Poison which aired in 2013 and showed filming in the labs at Discovery Park.
This examined how a deathstalker scorpion’s venom could be used to treat brain cancer.
The programme will air tonight at 9pm.
