Bomb disposal experts called to Uckfield Lane in Hever after chemical alert

Bomb disposal officials, police and firefighters were called after a chemical alert which resulted in a man being arrested.

Officers were joined by an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) car in Uckfield Lane, Hever, just after midday.

The force confirmed a number of chemicals were safely removed and a man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and harassment.

Police spokesman James Walker said Kent Fire and Rescue Service was also present, adding: "The EOD also attended the scene to assist emergency services while the materials were safely removed for assessment."

The Ministry of Defence said it did not have any record on its log of the incident.
