Emergency services were called to a three-car crash and vehicle fire.
Two fire engines were spotted on the A21 this morning after an accident between Sevenoaks and Chevening village.
As a result, the Sevenoaks by-pass has been blocked in both directions and motorists are stuck in long queues.
Police were called to the scene of a three-car crash at around 10.20am, while moments before, on the opposite side of the carriageway, a car fire had started.
Pictures from the scene show a white car with severe damage to its front, with fire fighters scattered around the crash site.
Smoke can also be seen coming from the other side of the carriageway and some people have got out of their cars to see what has happened.
A fire service spokesman said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of car fire on the A21 Sevenoaks bypass, near to the junction for the M25.
“Two fire engines were sent to the London-bound carriageway, where crews wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel to extinguish the flames. No injuries were reported.
“While in attendance, firefighters also responded to a crash on the opposite side of the carriageway and assisted with scene safety.”
Police and the ambulance service have been approached for more information.
