A company behind a cancelled festival has finally refunded ticket holders and entered voluntary liquidation.

Southbeats was due to come to Sevenoaks last month but the dance music extravaganza was abandoned due to poor ticket sales.

Music-lovers were left in the lurch, with organisers taking more than a month to announce they would be given a refund.

However, some have still not been given the full value of their tickets.

The company which runs the event, SBE Live Limited, has since announced it is entering creditors’ voluntary liquidation, with the help of Augusta Kent Limited.

A number of festivals across the county have closed down this year including Wheels and Fins, in Broadstairs.

A statement on the festival's website said: "The Directors of SBE Live Limited, the company that traded as Southbeats Festival (“SBE” or “the Company”), have instructed Augusta Kent Limited to assist them in placing the company into a formal insolvency process called Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidation.

"An email has been circulated to all known ticket holders to advise of the liquidation process. Ticket holders that have not been able to obtain a full refund from their bank, credit card provider or the ticket agent used may be a creditor of the company for the value of the ticket purchase and able to lodge a claim in the liquidation.

"If you are a ticket holder and have not received an email, please contact southbeatscreditors@augustakent.co.uk"

The event was due to the see likes of Example, Dizzee Rascal and Sub Focus perform at St Clere Estate in September.

In previous years, the two-day-long concert was held at Port Lympne safari park in Hythe and has welcomed nearly 35,000 visitors since starting up in 2016.
