A driver who was caught doing double the speed limit on a Kent motorway has been slapped with a £2,500 fine.
Mariglen Caushaj was recorded doing 139mph in his Mercedes on the clockwise carriageway of the M25 between Junction 5 for Sevenoaks and the Clacket Lane Services last March.
Pleading guilty at Folkestone Magistrates Court on on Monday, Caushaj of East Acton in London was fined and disqualified from driving for six months.
Inspector Sam Pearson said: "The size of the fine imposed on the defendant shows how seriously the courts take the matter of people endangering lives in this way.
"The driver was putting himself and other road users at significant risk by driving in such a dangerous manner.
"Motorists have personal responsibility to drive not only within the law but also to the conditions of the road to ensure they play their part in making our roads safe for everyone."
Anyone who witnesses an offence being committed on the road should report it by calling 999, or 101 in a non-emergency, when it is safe to do so.
