Conifer trees catch alight in Edenbridge

Residents have escaped unharmed after a blazed raged at the end of their Edenbridge gardens.

Fire spread from conifer trees to a store shed and fences yesterday evening.

Crews are still trying to establish the cause of the blaze, which started in The Platt at around 5pm.

Sara Bradley saw the flames from her home.

She said: "My garden is okay, only some fence damage, but my neighbour has lost their shed.

"I feel really sorry for them, they had photos and alot of memories in there.

"All the birds that nested in the trees were flying around this morning, they have nowhere to go.

"Ten more minutes and it could have spread up closer to the houses, it's made me think about fire safety."

Crews were called just after 5pm and the fire was out by 6.08pm, though the cause of the blaze remains unknown.
