A former chauffeur has taken a trip back in time in a vintage Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow.
Care home resident Alec Goy, who lives at Care UK’s Weald Heights in Sevenoaks, was surprised when staff arranged for the visit of the iconic motor after discovering he worked as a driver in the 1950s.
At 95 years old, it was an unexpected opportunity to relive his former work as a chauffeur in his favourite car.
Mr Goy spent the day learning about the history of the vehicle from the owner, and gave a ride around the local area to a lucky fellow resident, Eve.
And ever the gent, and remembering the little touches a chauffeur brings, he even helped Eve out of the back seat.
Mr Goy, who also served as at sea during the Second World War, said he was “so happy” when he saw the prestige car draw up outside the home in Bourchier Close.
“It was great to be back behind the wheel of such a beautiful car and to have the opportunity to wear my chauffeur hat again," he said. "I loved it!"
Maria Covington, the home’s manager, said: "We were delighted to reunite Alec with his favourite car, a Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow."
