Three suspected rogue traders have been arrested following reports in West Kingdown.

The men, aged 42, 25 and 24, were spotted in London Road on Monday and were reported to be targeting eldlerly residents.

It is alleged they knocked on their doors asking for cash to chop down trees and they were later arrested in Botsom Lane on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud.

Sevenoaks Inspector Tim Price warned residents to remain on guard against cold callers who may turn up on doorsteps touting for business.

Insp Price said: "We are continuing to investigate a number of complaints made by elderly residents, where it is alleged that excessive amounts of money have been obtained for work outside properties.

"Our advice remains the same for anyone dealing with cold callers. Do not deal with people who knock on your door offering work on your home or garden and if you have any concerns about their behaviour call the police."

Richard Strawson, of Kent County Council's Trading Standards, said: "We are grateful for Kent Police’s swift action in locating and arresting the suspects in this case.

"We work closely with the police in tackling rogue traders to ensure that residents are protected from this criminal activity."
