The 34-year-old said: "I am one of the lucky ones, so are my kids and my husband and all the people I love, and if I can’t handle the hunger any more I can always open my fridge and eat whatever I want, again, because I am privileged.

"I can’t ignore issues like this anymore, I don’t want to fight climate change a “bamboo toothbrush at a time”. I want to use my privilege to fight climate injustice, environmental racism, modern slavery speaking up, point out what is wrong, teaching my children to don’t simply acknowledge an injustice and walk away from it until it reaches your doorstep."

Mrs Hall's seven day hunger strike began yesterday, since then she hasn't eaten a bite, living only off vitamins and water.

Speaking today she said: "The hungrier I get, the more I realise how lucky I am.

"I’ve never really seen myself as privileged, but I am, and I hate this.

"If I faint because I’m not eating, or get ill or whatever, I will be taken to the hospital and get well in no time. And this is a privilege.

"Out there people die everyday for starvation. Now, I can’t really change my privileged position, but I can certainly use it for raise awareness and point out what’s wrong."

Extinction Rebellion Sevenoaks has organised a hustings event for General Election candidates, which is set to take place next week.
